Matthew Brennan
When talking about the spirit of Back 2 Work and its core values, nobody embodies that more than Matthew Brennan. His passion for affecting positive change in his community and his enthusiasm for life radiates through his work and has a ripple effect amongst us. In San Diego, Matthew has connected numerous individuals to life-changing opportunities and has played a major role in linking the department with programs and ventures that will help disrupt workforce inequalities. Matthew’s belief in “strength in numbers” and the fact that sometimes, it does take a village has also led him to work towards being a certified trainer for the Suicide Prevention Council of San Diego County. For Matthew, “When our community's sons, daughters, brothers, or mothers know they have a safe space to seek help during difficult times, it can prevent situations from worsening. More importantly, it creates a ripple effect, leading to the possibility of a brighter future. The nature of giving back allows me to better understand how to assist those in need.”

Kristen Rocha
We want to spotlight someone who would never shine the light on herself – Kristen Rocha! Kristen joined us as an Operations Coordinator in 2022, and from day one, she’s been going above and beyond in every aspect of her role. Whether it’s guiding participants into life-changing career opportunities with Caltrans or ensuring their basic needs are met, Kristen has been a true advocate and support system.
She’s also been the operational backbone for our subcontractors in the Central Region, ensuring everything runs smoothly. On top of all that, Kristen has recently taken the reins of our social media, sharing the impactful stories of Back 2 Work and giving a voice to every participant’s journey.
Kristen's dedication and passion inspire us all. She is an invaluable member of the Back 2 Work team, and we are deeply grateful for everything she does! Thank you for being the heart of our mission.

Alyssia Nunez
We would like to celebrate Alyssia Nunez, a Senior Administrative Assistant in Sacramento who’s desire for success for those around her has made a significant impact on our program. Recently, Alyssia has been in charge of the B2W “Wall of Success,” which showcases some fantastically triumphant individuals in our program.
“These stories motivate me each day because even when faced with the most
challenges, they still do what they can to progress. It is so fulfilling to see how hard they are working and how hard our team works to support our participants, share those resources with them, get them trained in special skills, and continuously find ways they can add to the support of our participants.

We would like to celebrate Bill Kinlaw, one of our Operations Coordinators in San Diego, for his two years of dedicated service with our department.
“With my passion for safety, I have been given the opportunity to help foster and grow a safety-first, safety always approach within our crews. Their safety is of the utmost importance and our top priority. It’s one of the easiest ways to show you care. I tell every crew the same thing, “We want you to come home the same way you came, a little more tired, with some money in your pocket, and hope for the future.”

Porsha Westbrook
We would like to celebrate Porsha Westbrook, one of our Operations Coordinators in LA, for her two years of dedicated service with our department. Porsha has been a central figure in our LA region, and her dedication and hard work have set a high standard for all of us.
At the end of last year, Porsha was on the team that put together B2W’s new Roadside Safety Training. “I enjoyed helping put the presentation together as well as presenting it to our crews. I enjoyed the work because this is the most important aspect of the program: safety! Being able to say I was a part of the
working group that helped put this presentation together felt great.” We are proud to have her as an exemplary employee on our team.
